people yelled things to Jackie from the stands, dugouts, and even from his own bench. The Dodgers were not allowed to stay in hotels, other teams refused to play on the same field as Jackie, some of his own teammates refused to play with him on the team. After players made threats to sit out on games, the Dodgers manager Leo Durocher reminded them he would sooner trade them than Robinson. His attitude and support toward the player set a tone for the rest of Robinson's time in baseball.
Some pitchers threw at him, umpires made unfair call against him, and people treated him badly in general. Even when all this was happening Robinson still kept the promise not to fight back.
